Xur's Stay In the Tower Extended!

In the wake of the incident on Christmas Day that put both Xbox Live and PlayStation Network out of commission, Bungie has generously decided to extend Xur's stay in the Tower until Monday at 10pm PST. Since there are many Guardians, particularly on PlayStation consoles who were unable to gain access to PSN until earlier today, this should be welcome news to any who were worried about missing out on Xur's special wares.

This time Xur can be found in the Hall of Guardians near the three Vanguards. His stock includes class-specific gear that we've all seen what seems like a dozen times now, a stark lack of exotic engrams, and the infamous No Land Beyond exotic primary sniper rifle for 17 strange coins. If you're into collecting exotic weaponry, you'll want to drop on by and add this one to your collection.

Official Sparrow Racing Coming Soon To Destiny?

From the earliest days of Destiny, even from the beta, probably even before that, the gamers of the Destiny Community have asked for an official form of Sparrow Racing. It's a great suggestion, and it certainly plays into the "activity for every mood" aspect of Destiny's gameplay that Bungie is going for. And come on, who hasn't raced their Sparrow with their friends at one point or another? I know I sure have!

The idea has become so popular, in fact, that there's even an unofficial Sparrow Racing League that Guardians can participate in. But this past weekend at PlayStation Experience (PSX), GameSpot talked to Eric Osbourne, otherwise known as Urk, of Bungie who teased that Sparrow racing is one of the ideas that has been "talked about" within the Bungie studio. You can check out a full video of the interview over here at GameSpot.

While it is truly a testament to the strength, dedication and creativity of this Community that an unofficial league for Sparrow racing has even popped up, I think the idea of an official game mode for Sparrow racing is just as exciting and intriguing.

Just take a moment and imagine the possibilities. Not only would a dedicated game mode come with all the official fanfare like a legitimate race course, lap times, a finish line and of course statistics, but the door is also opened up to so many other possibilities. Imagine being required to maneuver through obstacles, dodge incoming enemy fire, enemy racers, or even have to successfully execute sparrow tricks. With newer sparrows like the EV-30 Tumbler, things like this could definitely be likely and even doable. On the more optimistic side of things, it's even possible that we'd get dedicated "maps" for Sparrow racing, allowing us to explore even more of Destiny's world. For a such a simple idea, the amount of variety and content that could come along with it seems intriguing  all in its own right.

But of course, anything and everything about "possible ideas" for Destiny's future should be taken with more than a small grain of salt. It's entirely possible that this idea could never come to fruition, or could take on an entirely different form than any of us can imagine now. Still, it does seem like an awfully specific (and highly demanded) idea for Urk to just pull out of the blue as an example of "no promise" future Destiny content. So does that mean Sparrow racing is more than likely in Destiny's future, or is it just wishful thinking?

Blog Graphic Upgrades

So, the blog looks pretty ugly. I'm hoping to fix that in the coming weeks so that the blog not only looks more visually appealing but is also more reflective of Destiny. Stay tuned!
